Nippon inaugurates unit in Sri City.

NS Instruments India, a wholly owned subsidiary of Nippon Seiki Ltd. of Japan, recently inaugurated its production unit at Sri City special economic zone in Andhra Pradesh.

Nippon Seiki has one more plant at Manesar, Haryana in India, with both these producing instrument clusters for automobiles and motorcycles.

Mamoru Kawada, Director of Nippon Seiki, said: 'Besides meeting the demand from the Indian market, in future we wish to export to other countries from the Sri City plant, as it is located close to sea ports.'

Ravindra Sannareddy, Managing Director of Sri City, said Nippon was the eighth Japanese company to start commercial production from the special economic zone. 'When two other auto components makers Kikuwa and Kusakabe, apart from Isuzu, Unicharm and NHK Spring, become operational, a strong ecosystem for Japanese companies gets developed here,' he added.
