"NMDC Steel Reaches Milestone with One Million Tons of Liquid Steel Production"

NMDC Steel Limited (NSL) announced that it achieved a significant milestone of producing one million tonnes (MT) of liquid steel as of August 11, less than a year after commencing operations.

The achievement comes nearly a year after the first blow-in of the blast furnace at NSL’s state-of-the-art 3 MT per annum steel plant in Nagarnar, Chhattisgarh, on August 12, 2023. By July 21, 2024, the company had also reached a cumulative production of 1.5 MT of hot metal, according to a company statement.

"This achievement underscores our commitment to operational excellence and positions NSL as a key player in the Indian steel industry," said Amitava Mukherjee, Chairman-cum-Managing Director (Additional Charge) of NSL.

Looking ahead, NSL aims to produce 1 MT of hot rolled coils by August 2023, marking a year since the company began manufacturing this product.
