"Patna's 2 Smart City Projects Nearing Completion".

Patna's landscape around the railway station is poised for a transformative upgrade with the nearing completion of two key projects under the Smart City Mission: the pedestrian subway and the multi-modal transit hub.

Scheduled to be operational by October this year, these initiatives are aimed at facilitating seamless passenger transfers and integrating various modes of transport within the city.

Despite challenges posed by the monsoon, officials from Patna Smart City Limited (PSCL) have reported that both projects are in their final stages of civil construction.

"The pedestrian subway, spanning 440 meters with advanced facilities such as travelators, escalators, and lifts, is nearing completion, with 70% of civil work already done. The multi-modal transit hub, covering 27,356 square meters near Bakri Bazaar, has completed over 80% of its construction," stated a PSCL official.

Efforts are underway to connect Patna Junction, the multi-level car parking (MLCP), and the transit hub through a 250-meter underground tunnel, enhancing connectivity and reducing surface-level congestion.

Once operational, the subway will feature amenities such as air-conditioning, CCTV surveillance, fire safety systems, and retail outlets, offering passengers a comfortable and secure commuting experience.

"In the first phase, the transit hub's G+2 building will be ready, accommodating bus parking on the ground floor and facilities for other modes of transport on upper levels. The hub will also include provisions for electric buses with dedicated parking and charging points," the official added.

The revised detailed project report includes plans to expand the transit hub with additional floors for enhanced public amenities, including waiting lounges, retail spaces, and food courts.

With an estimated cost of Rs 84 crore for the subway and Rs 80 crore for the transit hub (with Rs 68 crore allocated for the initial phase), these projects signify a significant investment in enhancing Patna's urban infrastructure and transportation capabilities.

As completion draws near, anticipation builds among residents and commuters for the improved convenience and efficiency promised by these modernized facilities in Patna's bustling railway station area.
