NTPC Considers Standalone Nuclear Projects, Shifting from Solely JV Model.

In a strategic shift, power giant NTPC is looking beyond joint ventures and plans to establish nuclear power projects on a standalone basis, in addition to its current collaboration model.

NTPC's Chairman and Managing Director, Gurdeep Singh, confirmed the new approach, stating that the company is actively working with technology providers and state governments to identify and pursue these individual projects.

The move signals a significant expansion of NTPC's energy portfolio. The company, which operates an installed capacity of 82,926 MW, currently generates power from a mix of sources, including coal, liquid fuel, hydro, and solar. The new push into nuclear energy on its own marks a key step in its long-term growth and diversification strategy.
