NWFP plans mega road project in Malakand

Peshawar: NWFP Minister for Finance, Mohammad Humayun Khan, has said that the provincial government is planning to construct a mega road project from Mardan Motorway Swabi Interchange via Palai Pass in Malakand, which will bring change in the lives of the people of Swat Ranizai of upper Malakand.

The project would help convert the areas of Palai, Bazdara, Thana, Dheri Allahdand, Zulamkot, Batkhela, Chakdara into a developed zone and the people there would find much prosperity.

He was addressing different gatherings of PPP workers and elite of Bazdara Payan and Bala in Malakand on Wednesday. Prominent PPP leaders Abdul Kabir Khan, Qasim Qasab, Israr Khan, Mushtaq Khan, Nazim Sher Mohammad Khan and Naib Nazim Sardar Ghani also addressed the meetings.

The minister said that Malakand is a backward area and in the budget many uplift projects had been approved, due to which majority of difficulties of the people would be removed. He said that unluckily due to wrong policies of the previous government the country had been confronted with many crises-like law and order, atta and power, which had shaken the general public.

He expressed with regret that the most responsible people of the previous government exported wheat and put the people to crisis for the sake of getting huge commissions. He said it was astonishing that wheat was sold at $300 per ton while the same wheat was later imported on $700 per ton, which was an open joke with Pakistanis.

He said some hidden forces were still trying to create problems for the PPP-ANP coalition government but reiterated that all their illegal tactics would be mixed into mud. He assured the people that due to better policies the government would soon overcome the crisis.

He said that a mega irrigation project was designed for the area during the previous PPP regime but the MMA government later changed the design. However, he affirmed his commitment that he had held meetings with many high officers and very soon Baizai Irrigation Canal project would be under process, which would bring green revolution in Palai, Dobandai, Warter, Dargai, Bazdara and other many areas.

He also stated that funds for the Bazdara Hospital would be released this week. The people greatly commended the developmental initiatives of the finance minister and assured of their full support to him.
