OMC Proposes Expansion Work at Kodingamali Bauxite Mine in Odisha

OMC Proposes Expansion Work at Kodingamali Bauxite Mine in Odisha

Odisha Mining Corporation has announced plans to double bauxite production capacity at its Kodingamali Mines to 6 million tonnes per annum (MTPA), up from the current 3.6 MTPA, citing strong and sustained industrial demand.

The expansion comes as the mine, which has been in operation for the past eight years, continues to play a key role in Odisha’s mineral supply chain. The Kodingamali bauxite deposit spans across the districts of Koraput and Rayagada, and supplies raw material to industries within the state, supporting the region’s broader industrial ecosystem.

According to the company, the decision to scale up production is driven by rising demand from aluminium and allied industries, as well as the need to strengthen Odisha’s resource-led economic growth.

The planned expansion to 6 MTPA is expected to further enhance the mine’s contribution to the state’s mineral output and reinforce its importance in meeting domestic industrial requirements.
