"OMCs Issue Tender for Supplying 8.25 Billion Litres of Ethanol in FY24"
Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) have recently taken a significant step towards meeting India's ethanol blending goals by issuing tenders for the supply of 8.25 billion litres of ethanol from various sources. This procurement is intended to fulfill the 15 percent ethanol blending requirement for the upcoming supply year, which commences on November 1.
The bid document for this massive ethanol supply endeavor was released just a few days ago. As per the document, the validity of the bids extends until July 31, 2024, allowing ample time for potential suppliers to prepare their proposals and participate in this crucial initiative.
This move underscores the ongoing efforts by OMCs to enhance ethanol blending in the country, which is not only environmentally beneficial but also helps reduce India's dependence on fossil fuels. By setting out these tenders, OMCs aim to secure a substantial volume of ethanol to facilitate the achievement of the 15 percent blending target, thereby contributing to India's sustainable energy goals.
The ethanol procurement initiative for FY24 is poised to play a pivotal role in promoting the use of renewable and eco-friendly energy sources, ultimately benefiting both the environment and the nation's energy security.
