ONGC gets MoEF nod to drill seven exploratory wells in Kutch-Saurashtra offshore block

ONGC has received environment clearance for its project worth Rs.1180 Crore to drill seven exploratory wells in Kutch-Saurashtra offshore block GK-OSN-2009/2 on the west coast of Gujarat.

Initially, five exploratory wells will be drilled in the Kutch-Saurashtra Offshore Blocks GK-OSN-2009/2. If hydrocarbon is discovered in these five wells, two more wells will be drilled thereafter, as per ONGC's proposal for the project that will cost Rs 580 crore. All the proposed drilling will be carried out at locations beyond five kms from the coastline in an area covering 1,242 square kms. The depth of the wells will be around 4200 meters.
