"ONGC is scouting for a Technical Service Provider for the Western Offshore Basin, expanding its strategic focus beyond Mumbai High."

State-run Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) is scouting for a technical service provider (TSP) for its Western Offshore basin oil and gas fields, as several assets in the region face progressive production declines, similar to its flagship Mumbai High field.

The Western Offshore basin remains a critical contributor to ONGC’s overall output. At present, the Mumbai High and Bassein & Satellite (B&S) assets together account for nearly 60 per cent of the exploration and production major’s total oil and gas production.

Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of India Energy Week (IEW) 2026 in Goa, ONGC Director (Production) Pankaj Kumar said the company had floated a tender earlier this month seeking a TSP for the Western Offshore fields. He said the proposed engagement would be on the lines of ONGC’s existing technical service arrangement with BP for the Mumbai High block.

The move is aimed at arresting declining production and improving recovery from mature offshore assets, which continue to play a central role in ONGC’s production portfolio.
