Pak: Minister initiates 10 projects like Kalabagh Dam

Lahore: Federal Environment Minister, Hameed Ullah Jan Afridi has stressed the need of initiating ten projects like Kalabagh Dam in Pakistan.

He stated this while talking to reporters after addressing a seminar on 'Efficient use of energy for sustainable economic growth'.

To a question, Afridi said, 'In my view, ten projects like Kala Bagh Dam should be initiated in the country as the water war is fast grasping the world.'

To another question, the minister said that a Joint Working Group is being constituted to ensure early implementation of fresh MoUs on environment reached between Pakistan and China. This would largely help tackle the grave problem of global warming, he added.

Further, he said the ministry has formed Environment Tribunals to address the problems related to pollution especially, the industrial pollution and added these initiatives are largely welcomed by various quarters concerned as well as the provincial governments.
