PALFINGER’s ₹350-crore India push aims for cost-efficient lifting solutions.
Austrian lifting equipment major PALFINGER is aiming to reduce costs of its high-end cranes by up to 30% through local manufacturing, supported by a ₹350-crore investment in a new facility in Pune. The company has also forged a strategic partnership with the $3-billion TVS Mobility Group to gain nationwide market access and lifecycle support.
Since entering India in 2007, the €2.5-billion firm has primarily relied on imports. With localisation, it hopes to strengthen its position in a price-sensitive market driven by infrastructure, construction, and defence demand.
The Pune plant, slated to start operations after 2027, is expected to produce over 1,000 units annually. It will manufacture a range of products, including truck-mounted loader cranes, hook lifts, and aerial work platforms, marking a significant expansion of PALFINGER’s footprint in India.
