Pandian Chemicals Opens New Perchlorate Manufacturing Facility Near Chennai.

Pandian Chemicals Limited (PCL), a leading private manufacturer of perchlorates based in Madurai, has inaugurated its third manufacturing facility in Tamil Nadu at the SIPCOT Industrial Estate in Thervoy Kandigai, near Chennai.

PCL, formerly a joint sector company partnered with the Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation, is India’s largest producer of potassium chlorate — a key raw material for the safety match industry. The company also manufactures a range of perchlorates, including ammonium perchlorate (APC), a critical ingredient used in solid fuel motors for defence missiles.

To meet rising domestic and international demand for APC, PCL has set up the new facility with an investment of ₹48 crore. The plant has an installed capacity of 40 metric tonnes per month, with scope to double production in the near future, the company said in a release.
