PDIL awarded Manzali gas field project in NWFP

Lahore: Presson Descon International Ltd (PDIL), a leading engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning company, has been awarded the Manzali Gas Field Development Project in NWFP.

PDIL, a consortium with Enerflex Systems of Canada and Descon Engineering Pakistan, has been successfully operating in Pakistan and Egypt. The consortium partners are large multinational companies operating worldwide and would be jointly and severally liable for the completion of the project. The project activities have commenced successfully.

According to a press release issued here, on completion, it shall be producing 300 million standard cubic feet of natural gas as well as 2900 barrels per day of condensate, and is expected to save millions of US $ of foreign reserves and also play a key role in the development of the northern areas.

PDIL's capabilities have been acknowledged by the oil and gas sector in Pakistan as well as internationally, especially in Egypt where it successfully completed a turnkey project. It was a major breakthrough for a Pakistani company where highly technical solution was provided to the utmost satisfaction of the client. The Manzalai Field Development project was also won after a fair competition and certain elements, which could not continue in the process, have been misrepresenting the facts and spreading misinformation. All these measures create baseless confusions in the industry.

It is high time that concrete measures be taken against such elements which try to hinder the development, especially in NWFP and also shy away the foreign companies who are keen to invest in Pakistan. Such tactics result in huge losses to the national interest of attracting foreign investments and also delay the benefits, which can result from early development of natural gas reserves, the release concluded.
