"Petronet LNG Ltd Signs Binding Transaction Documents with Gopalpur Ports Ltd for LNG Terminal Establishment"
Petronet LNG Ltd (PLL) has achieved a significant milestone by finalizing binding Transaction Documents, including the Sub-Concession Agreement, Sub-Lease Deed, and Port Service Agreement, with Gopalpur Ports Limited on December 27, 2023. This strategic move paves the way for the establishment of a Floating Storage Regasification Unit (FSRU)-based LNG terminal with an initial capacity of approximately 4 million metric tonnes per annum (MMTPA) in Phase-1. The project also allows for flexibility, with provisions for conversion to a 5 MMTPA land-based terminal at Gopalpur Port in Ganjam District, Odisha.
Petronet LNG Ltd is actively engaged in the development of its inaugural LNG terminal on the east coast of India, situated at Gopalpur in Ganjam District, Odisha. The proposed facility is expected to contribute significantly to the overall regasification capacity in the country, aligning with the broader vision of fostering a gas-based economy.
This strategic collaboration and the subsequent establishment of the LNG terminal at Gopalpur mark a crucial step in enhancing the country's energy infrastructure and furthering the adoption of liquefied natural gas (LNG) as a cleaner and more sustainable energy source. The project aligns with India's commitment to diversify its energy mix and promote environmentally friendly alternatives in the pursuit of a greener future.
