The second phase of the Vizhinjam International Seaport development will begin soon, with an investment of ₹9,700 crore by the port concessionaire Adani Vizhinjam Port Pvt. Ltd. (AVPPL).

Kerala Ports Minister V.N. Vasavan said the phase is expected to be completed by 2028. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will inaugurate the construction, with Union Minister for Ports, Shipping and Waterways Sarbananda Sonowal as the chief guest.

The first phase of the Vizhinjam project involved an investment of around ₹8,867 crore, of which the Kerala government contributed approximately ₹5,595 crore (63%) for infrastructure, while Adani Ports provided around ₹2,500 crore (28%).
