PM Modi Inaugurates Maharishi Valmiki International Airport in Ayodhya

In a momentous occasion, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Maharishi Valmiki International Airport in Ayodhya on Saturday. The Prime Minister personally inspected the various facilities available at the airport, marking a significant milestone in the city's infrastructure development.

Designed by Sthapati and constructed at a cost of Rs 1450 crores, the Ayodhya Airport stands as an architectural marvel, promising holistic community development and cultural enrichment for the region. Beyond its physical dimensions, the airport has achieved GRIHA 4-Star Certification, underscoring India's commitment to sustainable practices and ushering in a new era of environmentally conscious aviation.

Strategically located to facilitate travel for devotees and tourists, the Ayodhya Airport complements the upcoming Ayodhya Ram Temple, providing a seamless travel experience to visitors seeking to explore this historic city.

The Ayodhya Airport represents a significant milestone in the unparalleled growth of aviation traffic and infrastructure. With a peak-hour capacity of over 750 passengers and four aircraft movements per hour, it is well-equipped to cater to a large population and accommodate the continuous expected growth in air travel.

The two-storeyed Ayodhya Airport is not just a functional facility but also a visual spectacle, adorned with elevational elements depicting the sacred city's rich history. The ground floor welcomes passengers with expansive amenities, while airport operations are conducted from the first floor.

Drawing inspiration from the gradual elevation of mandapas and the Nagara style of temple architecture prevalent in Northern India, the Ayodhya Airport seamlessly integrates the city's heritage into its architecture.

At the main entrance, a grand stepped shikar adorned with brass stands tall, reflecting the Nagara style and presenting a majestic and culturally rich welcome to passengers. The airport's architectural masterpiece unfolds with intricate columns, each laden with profound symbolism, symbolizing the Kandas of Ramayana and blending cultural richness into the airport's design.

The artistic immersion continues inside the terminal building with symbolic murals and artwork from the Ramayana. The Bow and Arrow mural symbolizes the courage to confront untruth, while hexagonal light particles embody the eternal triumph of truth over hierarchy. Symbolic murals intricately depict the timeless tale of Lord Ram, offering passengers an immersive, sensory-rich experience beyond traditional airport designs.

Skilfully placed skylights serve as guiding beacons, enhancing wayfinding and providing a sensory experience for passengers. The Ayodhya Airport stands not only as a gateway for travel but also as a cultural and architectural tribute to the rich heritage of the city.
