Pondy Oxides and Chemicals recently said its Board has approved the setting up of a copper recycling plant at Thervoykandigai in Tamil Nadu, as part of its strategy to expand value-added recycling capacity and strengthen its focus on circular economy initiatives.

The proposed facility will have an annual capacity of around 36,000 metric tonnes per annum (MTPA) of LME Grade A copper cathode and will involve an investment of approximately ₹200 crore.

The project will be developed in two phases, with each phase contributing 18,000 MTPA of capacity.

The company said the plant is expected to be commissioned on or before December 2026.
