Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated a series of significant development projects, collectively valued at approximately ₹7,500 crore, encompassing key sectors such as healthcare, railways, infrastructure, and the oil and gas industry. The inauguration ceremony took place in Shirdi, located in the Ahmednagar district of Maharashtra, on Thursday.
During the event, the Prime Minister reaffirmed the government's unwavering commitment to the welfare of the underprivileged, characterizing it as the topmost priority of the "double-engine" government. He revealed plans to increase the budget allocation for poverty alleviation efforts, underscoring the expanding Indian economy's capacity to support such initiatives.
Of particular note was the distribution of 1.1 crore Ayushman cards in Maharashtra, providing beneficiaries with health insurance coverage of up to ₹5 lakh. This initiative represents a government investment of ₹70,000 crore and aims to enhance access to healthcare for the state's residents.
Additionally, Prime Minister Modi launched the 'Namo Shetkari Mahasanman Nidhi Yojana,' a scheme set to benefit over 86 lakh farmer-beneficiaries. This program acknowledges the vital role played by farmers in the nation's prosperity and seeks to provide them with the necessary support and financial assistance.
Before participating in the development project dedications, Prime Minister Modi paid his respects at the revered Shri Saibaba Samadhi temple in Shirdi.
The Prime Minister also highlighted the significance of the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi initiative, which has so far disbursed ₹2,60,000 crore to small farmers across the country, including ₹26,000 crore allocated to the small farmers in Maharashtra. He expressed his satisfaction with the launch of the 'Namo Shetkari Mahasanman Nidhi Yojana' by the Maharashtra government, which will provide an additional ₹6,000 to Maharashtra Shetkari families, effectively granting local small farmers ₹12,000 under the Samman Nidhi program.
