Production capacity of steel mill to be enhanced: Wattoo

Sialkot: Federal Minister for Industries and Production Mian Manzoor Ahmed Wattoo has said that a special strategy has been evolved for capacity building of steel mill aimed at enhancing productivity.

Talking to reporters at Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) he disclosed that under the programme the production of steel mill would be increased to 8 million tons from 1.1 million tons.

The Federal Minister further stated that government was making strenuous efforts for setting industrial sector in motion to keep the economic wheel in full motion without any hurdle. In this regard government has adopted far-reaching approach for resolving the problems and difficulties being confronted by the industrial sector on top priority basis, he said.

Manzoor Wattoo said that government has taken drastic steps for overcoming energy crisis and under the programme 4300 MW electricity would be produced by December 2009. The Federal Industries Minister said that special steps had also been taken for the revival of sick industrial units and in this connection Smeda has been given the task to conduct comprehensive study on sick industrial units in the country.
