PVR INOX Limited, one of India’s leading cinema exhibitors, has made its debut in Agra—the “City of Love”—with the opening of a premier 4-screen multiplex at Anjana Central on MG Road. The launch opened with the film Dhurandhar: The Revenge, marking a significant milestone in the city’s entertainment and lifestyle landscape.
The new multiplex is expected to bolster Agra’s growing economic profile and support the state’s $1 trillion economic vision by introducing a flagship national brand to the city’s retail and entertainment ecosystem. The venue also aims to enhance the city’s appeal to global tourists, offering a high-end evening experience that encourages longer stays and greater engagement with local hotels and businesses.
Designed as a “social hub” cinema, the property blends modern aesthetics with Agra’s cultural heritage. The interiors feature a café-inspired palette of beige and deep green, natural greenery in foyers and concession areas, and a fluid layout connecting auditoriums, lounges, and food zones. Each auditorium has distinct colour themes, fabric-finished walls, elegant cove lighting, and advanced technologies including RGB Laser projection, Dolby 7.1 sound systems with HARMAN (JBL) speakers, and next-generation 3D systems. Signature recliners and a curated gourmet menu complete the premium experience.
Beyond entertainment, the multiplex emphasizes local empowerment through the Franchise-Owned Company-Operated (FOCO) model, partnering with Agra business owners and creating professional opportunities in hospitality and technical management for the city’s youth.
Mr. Pramod Arora, CEO – Growth & Investment, PVR INOX Limited, said, “Agra marks an important step in our expansion into emerging urban markets where audiences are increasingly seeking premium, experience-led entertainment. Through our FOCO model, we can combine strong local partnerships with PVR INOX's world-class cinema expertise, bringing immersive technology, thoughtfully designed spaces, and elevated hospitality to the city.”
With this opening, PVR INOX now operates 147 screens across 29 properties in Uttar Pradesh and 483 screens across 102 properties in North India, solidifying its position as the country’s largest film exhibition company with 1,799 screens across 359 properties in 114 cities across India and Sri Lanka.
This new multiplex positions Agra as a modern entertainment destination, combining cinema, culture, and community in a world-class venue.
