PWD set to re-issue bids for Shivaji memorial.

After the mid-Arabian sea Shivaji memorial project failed to elicit much response from project management consultants, the state Public Works Department (PWD) is planning to re-issue bids by lowering the tender conditions.

Bids will now be issued after changing the per-requisite that interested firms should have completed a coastal infrastructure or memorial project costing over Rs. 700 crore and that is necessarily on an area of 10 hectares or more. 'We will make that clause less stringent by substituting the word ‘and’ with the word 'or'. That way, firms that meet either of the two conditions, between the stipulated project cost and area, can come forward. We will hopefully get a better response the second time around,' said a PWD official.
