Quatrro buys 60% stake in Babel Media
New Delhi: Raman Roy-led Quatrro, an outsourcing company with over 2,000 employees globally, has acquired over 60 per cent stake in Babel Media, for an undisclosed sum.
Quatrro has invested in the company along with DE Shaw group. With this transaction, Babel becomes a part of the Quatrro group of companies.
“The investments by Quatrro and the DE Shaw group reflect the growth potential for specialist services in the games and interactive entertainment industry and the unique capabilities of games outsourcing leader Babel,” a Quatrro release said here.
The company, founded in 1999, is one of the pioneers of outsourcing in the games industry. Babel employs over 500 staff and has offices in Brighton (UK), Los Angeles, Montreal and New Delhi, providing comprehensive games-focused localisation, QA, certification, audio and print services across all platforms.
“Providing scalable resources via a global delivery model, whilst maintaining flexibility for today’s top publishers and developers, is crucial,” said Mr Raman Roy, CEO and Chairman of Quatrro.
Babel would retain its branding and exclusive focus on games and interactive entertainment. Major investment is planned for across Babel’s existing facilities in North America, Europe and India and simultaneously plans are being drawn up to expand capabilities to South East Asia and Eastern Europe, the release added.
