Quick N Safe plans to develop major hubs

Kolkata: Quick N Safe, a Kolkata-based logistics service provider having network in different parts of the country, proposes to strengthen its presence in the southern and northern regions by setting up major and mini hubs and will accordingly spend more than Rs 100 crore by December 2009.

A spokesman of the company said that about 20 locations in these regions had been identified.

The average size of each major hub would be about 25,000-30,000 sq ft and of mini hub 12,000-15,000 sq ft, he said.

Right now, the company’s network comprised five super hubs, each of one lakh sq ft, at Kolkata, Gurgaon, Indore, Bangalore and Nagpur, and eight major and five mini hubs at various locations.

“We’ve no immediate plans to go for any more super hub”, he said.

Quick N Safe, as the spokesman said , operated on the spoke and hub system and offered multi-modal connectivity to its customers comprising industries such as apparel, pharmaceuticals, auto components and cosmetics.

In 2007-08, the company’s turnover amounted to Rs 70 crore, estimated to rise to Rs 132 crore in 2008-09.

“We’ve set a target of Rs 500 crore of turnover by 2012”, he said indicating that tie-ups with some major domestic companies as well as a few multinational firms were on the cards.
