Railways Ministry Sanctions ₹118 Crore Rail Over Bridge Near Katihar Junction.

The Ministry of Railways has approved a proposal to build a new road over bridge (ROB) near the bustling Katihar Junction, a project valued at approximately ₹118 crore.

The new ROB will replace a congested level crossing on National Highway-31 and State Highway-98, a major bottleneck for traffic. Officials from the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) confirmed that the project will be a joint venture between the Ministry of Railways and the concerned state authorities.

"The approval of the ROB is a long-awaited development for the people of Katihar and surrounding areas. It will not only decongest the highways but also ensure greater safety for motorists and pedestrians," a senior railway official from the Katihar division stated.

According to sources, work is expected to begin soon, with detailed project planning and the tendering process already underway. The project is part of the central government's broader initiative to modernize transport infrastructure and improve connectivity across the country.
