Railways Unveils Master Plan for Pune’s Development
Baramati MP Supriya Sule lauded the Union Ministry of Railways for its efforts in improving cleanliness at stations across Maharashtra during the ongoing winter session of Parliament. Speaking to Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, Sule acknowledged the commendable work in the state, stating, "The railway ministry's efforts in maintaining cleanliness in Maharashtra are praiseworthy. I congratulate the team for their dedication."
In her remarks, Sule also raised concerns about the reduction of train stops at stations such as Daund, Nira, Baramati, and Jejuri, noting that the number of stoppages at Daund has dropped from 80 to 40. She urged the minister to reconsider the reductions, emphasizing the need for more train stops to foster economic growth in these areas.
In response, Minister Vaishnaw expressed gratitude for the praise and assured that the Railways, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, would continue its efforts. He also shared that the Pune-Daund area is part of a larger master plan, which includes key infrastructure projects such as the construction of a mega terminal in Uruli, the complete redevelopment of Pune railway station, transforming Shivajinagar into a terminal, and the addition of a third and fourth line between Pune and Lonavla, along with a new line between Pune and Ahmednagar.
Vaishnaw confirmed that Rs. 1.6 lakh crore is being invested in various projects across Maharashtra, and the ministry would review the stoppage issue. Pune railway officials noted that work on several of these projects is already underway or will begin shortly, including the third and fourth lines between Pune and Lonavla, in collaboration with the state government.
