Rajasthan Building India's Premier Vande Bharat Train Depot.
India's railway infrastructure is taking a significant leap forward with the construction of the country's first dedicated maintenance depot for Vande Bharat trains at Bhagat Ki Kothi in the Jodhpur Railway Division. This pioneering facility is the first of four such depots planned nationwide, a senior railway official confirmed recently.
Jodhpur Divisional Railway Manager Anurag Tripathi elaborated on the project's importance. "The Vande Bharat maintenance depot being built at Bhagat Ki Kothi in Jodhpur Division is the first of its kind in the country," Tripathi stated. "It will handle maintenance for Vande Bharat trains from across India."
The expansive depot, stretching over 600 meters, is designed for high efficiency. It will feature three pit lines, enabling the servicing of three Vande Bharat trains concurrently. This specialized facility is crucial for ensuring the smooth operation and optimal performance of India's rapidly expanding fleet of semi-high-speed Vande Bharat trains.
While four such state-of-the-art maintenance hubs are envisioned for the entire country, the Bhagat Ki Kothi depot marks the inaugural project currently under construction, setting a precedent for future developments aimed at bolstering the efficiency and reach of the Vande Bharat network.
