Rs. 141 crore for HPVP modernisation.

Heavy Plates and Vessels Plant (erstwhile BHPV), which became 17 unit of Maharatna company BHEL a year ago, is undergoing modernisation at a cost of Rs. 141 crore.

'We have spent Rs. 115 crore till July 31 and the remaining amount will be spent by end of the year,' General Manager in-charge of HPVP J. Sankaran said during his Independence Day message.

Many of the new machines ordered have been commissioned.

Several existing machines are being taken up for retrofitting and reconditioning.

Mr. Sankaran said order book status had remained a matter of major concern due to subdued business environment during last year.

'We need to focus on marketing efforts with renewed vigour. As a first step after our merger, we had taken up with our major consultant and customer EIL for revalidation and enlistment and obtained the same for the entire range of products.' He said with enlistment, they were hoping to regain foothold in the process equipment market.
