Rs.100 crore promised for road work.
Chief Minister Oommen Chandy has promised to allocate Rs. 100 crore for the Mananchira-Vellimadukunnu road-widening project, District Collector C.A. Latha has said.
The Chief Minister had promised the amount for the first phase of the project at a recent meeting in Thiruvananthapuram, the Collector told a meeting of the District Level Purchase Committee (DLPC) at her chamber recently. The meeting was organised to elicit suggestions and identify problems faced by the landowners on the sixth stretch from Malapparamba ADM Quarters to Vellimadukunnu.
A meeting of property owners of the first stretch from Mananchira to Sivapuri Temple Road was held recently as the land value on this stretch could not be finalised following disagreement between officials and landowners.
The floor price of the land on the sixth stretch had been arrived at Rs. 13,16,272 a cent. However, the Collector finally fixed the rate at Rs. 14 lakh.
Similarly the floor price of the land on the first stretch had been arrived at Rs. 16,68,128 a cent. But the final rate had been fixed at Rs. 21 lakh a cent.
Ms. Latha said the decision taken at the DLPC would be submitted to the State-level Empowered Committee chaired by the Chief Secretary. Further action on the project would be taken only after the clearance of the Empowered Committee.
Minister for Social Justice and Panchayats M.K. Muneer had promised to speed up the project.
