SAIL Team Inspects 3 Sites for Proposed Steel Plant.

The team of Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) officials, who are visiting the district to find out a suitable place for setting up of a steel plant in the district, on Sunday inspected three sites and looked into the possibility of setting up a plant in any of the site.

The officials reportedly did not show much interest in the site at Ambavaram in Jammalamadugu.

According to officials, the SAIL officials first visited the Kopparti industrial area on the outskirts of the Kadapa town. They inspected the lands acquired by the government to set up industries and also the basic infrastructure developed there. The team inquired about the facilities like transport, power, water and others to the industrial area.

Later, the team visited Ambavaram, where the Brahmani steels had set up its plant in the 10,760 acre land acquired and handed over to the company by the government. Officials explained the SAIL team about the land and also the machinery available in the plant. It is, however, said that the team did not evinced keen interest on the Ambavaram location as the Brahmani steels management might create legal hurdles in setting up of the steel plant.

Later, the team visited the 4,386 acre government land at M Kambaladinne in Mylavaram mandal. Apart from the local officials, the SAIL team also interacted with local MLA C Adinarayana Reddy, former MLA P Ramasubba Reddy, Kadapa MP Y S Avinaash Reddy and others about the infrastructure available at the place. They inquired about availability of power, water and other facilities.

It is said that the SAIL team was more favourable about setting up the plant at the Mylavaram lands.
