Sanghi Ind to invest Rs. 250 cr in Gujarat.
Cement-maker Sanghi Industries Ltd. will invest Rs. 250 crore over the next couple of years with a focus on sustainable development, innovation and conservation of energy.
The company will pump in Rs. 150 crore to develop a 15-MW waste heat recovery system (WHRS) and Rs. 100 crore to expand its facilities at Navlakhi Port in Gujarat, Alok Sanghi, Director, said recently.
The company has signed a contract for installation of the WHRC at its cement plant in Kutch district whereby 15 MW power will be generated from waste gases. With this technology, valuable fossil fuel and foreign exchange will be saved and there will be a significant reduction in the emission of pollutant gases such as carbon dioxide and sulphur dioxide, he said.
Sanghi Industries, whose plant at Abdasa in Kutch has a capacity to make 3 million tonnes of cement annually, will recover more than 70 per cent of waste heat generated from the facility.
For conservation of coastal soil, the company will undertake mangrove plantation spread over 200 hectares on the Gujarat coast.
Sanghi said the company will focus on increasing efficiencies at its plants as well as reducing carbon footprint by cutting pollutants. Also, in line with the Shipping Ministry's agenda to increase transportation through the coastal sea route, the company has set up a terminal with an investment of Rs. 50 crore at Navlakhi Port in Kutch.
