Sembcorp Signs MoUs with Odisha for Green Hydrogen Plant and Industrial Park.
Sembcorp Industries (Sembcorp), through its wholly-owned subsidiaries Sembcorp Green Hydrogen India Private Ltd (SGHIPL) and Sembcorp Development Ltd, has signed two non-binding Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with the Odisha Government. The agreements were finalized on Friday in the presence of Singapore’s Minister for Transport and Second Minister for Finance Chee Hong Tat, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, and other dignitaries, as part of the State visit of Tharman Shanmugaratnam, President of the Republic of Singapore, to India.
The MoU with Industrial Promotion & Investment Corporation of Odisha Ltd outlines plans for SGHIPL to explore the development of a green hydrogen production facility with an anticipated capacity of 7,20,000 metric tonnes per annum. The facility is expected to create over 2,000 jobs during its operational phase, according to an official statement.
Additionally, Sembcorp Development Ltd has signed a separate non-binding MoU with Odisha Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation to assess the potential for establishing an industrial park in the state.
These initiatives underscore Sembcorp’s commitment to advancing green energy solutions and industrial growth in Odisha. However, the signing of these MoUs is not expected to materially impact Sembcorp’s earnings per share or net tangible assets per share for the financial year ending December 31, 2025.
