Seven projects executed in east
JalalabadD/Pul-I-Alam: Seven reconstruction projects, benefiting a large number of people, have been implemented in the eastern Nangarhar and Laghman provinces, officials said on Monday.
In Nangarhar, Pacher Agam district chief Mirza Muhammad informed Pajhwok Afghan News a water head and a 300-metre-long supportive wall were constructed in Samarkhel village of the district.
At least 500 acres of agricultural land would be irrigated with the completion of the water head and more than 700 families protected from floods by the supportive wall, the district chief added.
Officials in the neighboring Laghman province said six uplift plans were executed under the National Solidarity Programme (NSP) in Gulakhel, Muhammadkhel, Nazar Muhammad and Mustafa villages of the Alishang district.
The NSP regional director said the projects including two water heads, digging of wells and canals were carried out in three months with a total cost of 4.8 million afghanis. The projects will benefit more than 1241 families.
Also on Monday, an official said 10 clinics would be set up to provide health facilities to 300 families in the remote districts of the central Logar province.
Health Director Dr. Zarif Naibkhel told to a new conference in Pul-i-Alam that $3 million had been set aside for the clinics in Muhammad Agha, Barak-i-Barak, Khoshi, Kharwar, Charkh and Azra districts.
Scheduled to be launched next month, the clinics will be set up with financial support from the Public Health Ministry, the US-led Provincial Reconstruction Team (PRT) and Disarmament of Irresponsible Armed Groups (DIAG).
