Shell Boosts LNG Supplies to India, Secures Major Fertiliser Tenders Amid Gulf Disruptions.

Global energy major Shell plc has ramped up natural gas supplies to India following disruptions caused by the West Asia conflict, leveraging its global liquefied natural gas (LNG) portfolio to capture a larger share of both spot and long-term demand, including key fertiliser sector tenders.

Industry sources said the company emerged as a leading supplier in last month’s bulk LNG procurement by Indian fertiliser firms, securing around 4 trillion British thermal units (TBtus) out of the 6 TBtus tendered. The move comes as the government sought to ensure adequate feedstock availability for urea production amid constrained supplies from the Gulf region.

With shipments from India’s largest LNG supplier, QatarEnergy, affected by the ongoing conflict, Shell’s India arm stepped in to fill the gap, importing its highest-ever monthly LNG volumes in March, according to sources.
