"Shyam Metalics Begins Operations at Ramsarup Plant"
Shyam Metalics and Energy Ltd has commenced operations at the Ramsarup plant in Kharagpur, signaling a significant development following its acquisition in May 2022 through its subsidiary, Shyam Sel and Power Limited. The plant's reopening is expected to create around 2,000 job opportunities, demonstrating the company's commitment to stimulating socio-economic growth in the region.
The Ramsarup plant is outfitted with a range of infrastructure, including a direct reduced iron (DRI) unit with a capacity of 150,000 tonnes per annum (TPA) and an integrated captive power plant (CPP) that can produce up to 20 Megawatts (MW) of electricity. This setup will enable Shyam Metalics to expand its production capabilities while also reducing its reliance on external power sources.
B Bhushan, Vice Chairman and Managing Director of Shyam Metalics and Energy Limited, noted that the launch of operations at the Ramsarup plant aligns with the company's broader expansion strategy. "In addition to this announcement, the series of capital expenditure projects we've announced in the last two financial years will become operational in the upcoming financial years," he said. "By harnessing the synergies between our organizations and implementing best practices, we are well-positioned to drive innovation, efficiency, and value creation in the steel sector.
This move represents a major step for Shyam Metalics, highlighting its commitment to investing in infrastructure and supporting regional development. The company’s efforts to modernize and reinvigorate the Ramsarup plant reflect a broader trend in the steel industry toward enhanced efficiency and sustainability.
