Siemens ties up with Flying Cement to build 132KVA grid station

Lahore: The Siemens Pakistan Engineering Company Limited has teamed up with the Flying Cement Company Limited to manufacture a state-of-art 132 KVA grid station to power its cement plant in Khushab.

The contract, a 26-MVA grid station with service and maintenance provided by the Siemens Engineering Company Limited, is the first part of a three-point strategy by the Flying Cement Company Limited to tackle high-energy costs. This station will cut the cost by more than 50 percent, enabling larger profits for its shareholders.

The cement plant is using furnace oil, but expects to switch over to the Water and Power Development Authority (Wapda) in the next three to four months. Cement company Project Director Yousaf Kamran said further upgrades, including the installation of a vertical raw mill, was in the pipeline to further cut the energy consumption by 20 percent. This would give the company one of the lowest costs of production per bag of cement in the industry, he added.
