Sixteen school buildings completed in Helmand
Lashkargah: Sixteen school buildings have been completed out of 36 approved projects in lawless southern province of Helmand, officials informed.
Saiful Malook Noori deputy director education of the province informed that the proposals for getting the projects were prepared by the help of technical advisors. People send their children to schools as result of the construction and establishment of schools, he added.
The area people were cooperating with the construction workers while implementing the plans of education department in remote areas, he said 'The technical consultants have helped us in preparation of project proposals.'
Education officials say a number of schools were torched by militants or closed down due to lack of security during the last two years. However, Noori said opening and establishment of schools has been recently speeded up.
Noori said they have also prepared vocational training course for ordinary people and all the projects were designed and implemented by the help of the consultants.
They prepared a plan for establishment and construction of new schools and school buildings in Musa Qala, Garmser, Greshk, Sangin and some other districts; he said adding daily activities have increasingly organized as a result of the training by advisors.
Relation with donors has strengthened as advisors trained the staffs by getting knowledge of computer, learning English language reporting and preparing proposals, he explained. The technical advisors for government departments have been introduced from the Local Governance Capacity Development program (LGCD) funded by the US Agency for International Development.
