SJVN Secures 7 GW Renewable Energy Agreement with Rajasthan Government.
SJVN Limited, a joint venture between the Government of India and Himachal Pradesh, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Rajasthan’s Energy Department to develop 7 gigawatts (GW) of renewable energy projects in the state.
The partnership includes plans for 5 GW of pumped storage projects and 2 GW of floating solar projects. The agreement was signed in the presence of Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, with SJVN’s Director of Finance, Akhileshwar Singh, and Rajasthan Renewable Energy Corporation Limited (RRECL) Managing Director Om Kasera formalizing the deal.
This initiative aligns with SJVN’s long-term vision of achieving 25,000 MW of capacity by 2030 and scaling up to 50,000 MW by 2040. The Navratna Central Public Sector Enterprise (CPSE) aims to bolster its renewable energy portfolio through a collaborative approach with Rajasthan’s energy authorities.
The agreement is a milestone for Rajasthan’s renewable energy sector, addressing energy storage challenges through pumped storage solutions and incorporating innovative floating solar technology. The combined projects are expected to significantly enhance the state’s renewable energy capabilities, paving the way for sustainable growth.
