Smile Parks plans 25 food processing clusters in UP by 2020.

Smile Parks Industries has launched a food processing cluster on the Lucknow-Faizabad highway, about 65 km from the state capital.

It has drawn a roadmap to set up 25 such clusters all over UP by 2020 with combined investment of over Rs. 3,000 crore and setting up of 2,500 individual units, company's CEO Harsh Chaturvedi said.

The individual units in each cluster would be owned by micro entrepreneurs and the agricultural products would be sourced from local farmers.

He said due to lack of proper warehousing, transpiration and food processing facilities, UP suffered over 18% wastage of its horticultural production.

The company would facilitate establishing of the micro units, from forming a company, getting requisite government clearances, bank loan, project report etc.

The cluster would provide common facility for power backup, tool room, quality lab, warehousing, cold storage, packaging, printing, transport and administration under well defined standard operating procedures (SOP) & good manufacturing practices (GMP).

The company would provide 100% purchase guarantee to entrepreneurs for the processed food items.
