SPA to make plan for new J'khand capital

More than a decade after the plan to construct a new capital for Jharkhand was conceived, the state government has finally okayed a file to ink an MoU with School of Planning and Architecture (SPA) in New Delhi to prepare its blueprint.

'We have decided to hand over the responsibility to SPA to prepare the Detail Project Report covering all aspects of planning up to floating tender for the construction of the new capital,'Greater Ranchi Development Authority (GRDA) Managing Director Avinash Kumar told The Indian Express.

GRDA was set up as a government-run body to execute the project in 2004. On the occasion of the state’s second establishment day on November 15, 2002, the then home minister L K Advani had laid its foundation stone at Sukurhuttu in Kanke block of Ranchi district.
