"State officials have greenlit a 35-km Metro link connecting CSMIA and the upcoming Navi Mumbai International Airport to ease regional congestion."

The Maharashtra Cabinet Infrastructure Committee has approved a new 35-kilometre metro corridor aimed at providing a seamless connection between the Mumbai and Navi Mumbai international airports. The project is estimated to cost ₹22,862 crore.

The proposed corridor will feature 20 stations, with six planned as underground and the remaining 14 elevated. The underground stretch will span 9.25 km from Mumbai Airport Terminal 2 to Ghatkopar East, while the elevated section will cover 24.63 km from Ghatkopar West to Navi Mumbai Airport Terminal 2.

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has directed that all land acquisition and statutory approvals for the metro be completed within six months. Construction is expected to begin once approvals are in place, with a projected timeline of three years for completion.

The project is part of the state’s ongoing efforts to improve connectivity and ease travel between the region’s two major airports, enhancing infrastructure and reducing commute times for passengers.
