Oncology start-up SunAct Advanced Cancer Therapies has inaugurated its third facility in India, marking its entry into Mumbai with a center dedicated to providing cutting-edge CAR-T therapies for solid-state tumors. Company representatives announced the launch, highlighting SunAct's rapid expansion in making these advanced treatments more accessible.
This Mumbai center is the third such facility established by SunAct in approximately nine months, with further expansion on the horizon. According to Vijay Patil, oncologist and SunAct Founder, another center is slated to become operational in Nashik by mid-May. The company already operates two other centers in Thane and Kerala, with the latter having been launched just two weeks prior.
Patil emphasized SunAct's patient-centric approach, stating that the goal is to bring these specialized centers to the "patients' backyard," enabling easier access to CAR-T therapies.
Looking ahead, SunAct has ambitious plans to establish a network of similar facilities across major metropolitan cities, including Delhi, Chennai, Hyderabad, and Bengaluru. Patil anticipates that at least two of these new centers will commence operations within the current year.
The need for geographically convenient access to these therapies is underscored by the year-long follow-up care required for patients undergoing CAR-T treatment, Patil explained. He also noted that SunAct has been receiving inquiries about the therapy not only from various parts of India but also from the West Asia region, indicating a growing demand for their specialized services.
