Sutlej Corp to open main office in Khandbari
Sankhuwasabha: Sutlej Corporation, an Indian energy company commissioning the Arun III hydroelectricity project, is all set to open its main office in Khandbari, the district headquarters of Sankhuwasabha district.
Putting aside rumours about the company opening its offices in Kathmandu, Biratnagar or Dharan, Sutllej’s country representative in Nepal, Hari Ram Subedi, said the company would open its main office in Khandbari.
“Since the project lies in the district, there is no point opening our main office in other districts,” Subedi said. He also hoped that the construction works and information flow would take pace after the office was opened.
“If everything goes as planned, we will open the office tomorrow,” Subedi said, adding that the company will also open its liaison office in Kathmandu.
When asked about locals ‘one house, one share’ demand, Subedi said the demand was redundant. “We’ll discuss this issue after completing construction works. These demands are being raised just to oppose the project,” he added.
He said now that Sutlej Corporation had revived the project, it should be allowed to function smoothly.
Subedi added that the project would be completed on time if it got people’s support and was allowed to work smoothly. “We laid the foundation stone of the project ignoring several problems,” he said, adding that the project will prioritise the construction of access road first.
“The survey of Arun III has already begun. The construction of road will begin after completing the survey, which is expected to be over in 24 months,” he added.
Sutlej expects to complete the 402 MW-capacity project by 2015.
