Swachcha Urja Nirman LLP signs Battery Recycling Tech Transfer deal with Centre for Materials for Electronics Technology, Hyderabad.
Epic Energy Limited’s subsidiary, Swachcha Urja Nirman LLP (SUN LLP), has signed a 10-year Technology Transfer Agreement with the Centre for Materials for Electronics Technology (C-MET) for recycling end-of-life assorted lithium-ion batteries (excluding LFP batteries) using a hydro-metallurgical process. The agreement marks a significant step toward sustainable e-waste management and environmental conservation.
C-MET, established in 1990 under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), focuses on developing pilot-scale production technologies for electronic materials and facilitating their commercialization. The organization plays a key role in advancing processes, products, and technologies for electronic materials, components, and devices to support India's industrial growth.
Commenting on the partnership, Bhalchandra Kadam, Partner at SUN LLP, said, “This marks the third vertical of focus for Epic Energy. Partnering with C-MET in this initiative reinforces our commitment to environmental sustainability. We plan to commence commercial operations by Q3 FY26 with a one-tonne-per-day processing facility, likely in Maharashtra or Gujarat.”
Nikhil Morsawala, Group CFO, Epic Energy Limited, estimated the capital investment for the facility at under $1 million, with expectations of reaching break-even by FY27.
Priya Joshi, Director at Epic Energy, emphasized the company’s sustainability commitment, stating, “This initiative aligns with India’s vision of a circular economy and will be a benchmark for sustainable industrial practices.”
