Takhar province to get 300 uplift projects
Taloqan: More than 80,000 jobless people will benefit by the implementation of three hundred uplift projects in provincial capital and in the 16 districts of the northern Takhar province, an official said.
Jan Muhammad Nabizada, spokesman for the Rural Rehabilitation and Development (RRD) department said work on the uplift projects including, paving and construction of a number of roads, digging of a large number wells, construction of supportive walls, cleaning of canals and construction of small water dams started.
He added large numbers of family will benefit by implementation of the projects in the work for food program. Training women for tailoring and weaving carpets is also a part of the projects that will be implemented during one year, he hoped.
He explained, more than 3000 tons food provided by the World Food Program (WFP) will be distributed to more than 80,000 people. Contract of 6000 tons of food has been signed with WFP officials and the remaining 3000 tons will arrive as soon as possible, he continued.
Area people will be safeguarded from flooding, they will benefit from piped water and all their transportation problems will be solved by completion of the projects, Nabizada remarked. The area people have also expressed their happiness about the projects.
Gul Murad, a resident from Farkhar district of the province said: Implementation of the projects will bring large number of facilities, all our agricultural, transpiration and joblessness problems will be solved after the implementation.
Maulvi, Ahmadullah Ahmadi, chief of provincial council terming joblessness as one of the most important problems said joblessness forced thousands of youth to go to the neighboring provinces and countries for work.
