Tamil Nadu Accelerates SIPCOT Revamp to Transform Industrial Parks into Employment Hubs.
The Tamil Nadu government has intensified its SIPCOT Revival Mission to transform industrial parks from land banks into fully operational manufacturing hubs, with a focus on addressing infrastructure and administrative bottlenecks that have left several allotted plots unused.
Industries Minister S Keerthana told the Assembly on Monday that the initiative includes on-ground inspections, direct engagement with investors and time-bound interventions to ensure that industrial land allotments translate into factories, jobs and economic activity.
The Manapparai SIPCOT Industrial Park in Tiruchi district is among the first locations where the mission has been rolled out. Spread across 1,097.86 acres, the industrial park has allotted land for 32 factories. However, only four companies are currently operational.
Under the revival drive, the government is seeking to identify the reasons behind the delays and address issues preventing investors from commencing operations, with the broader objective of improving industrial land utilisation and creating employment opportunities.
