Tamilnadu Eyes Rs. 500 Crore Investment Into Coimbatore TICEL Park.

The TICEL Bio Park III will be coming up at government alloted land near Anna University campus in Coimbatore at a cost of Rs. 55 crore, according to P Shanmuga Sundaram, managing director of TIDCO and TICEL.

Speaking during the Roundtable Session on 'Bio and Pharma 2015’ organised by Confederation of Indian Industry here, Sundaram said that the third TICEL park would come up in 10 acres of land.

'The Environment Impact Assessment study is already over and the 14-storey building would be designed as per international standards,' he said.

It will have Biosafety Levels II and III. Biological safety levels are ranked from one to four and are selected based on the agents or organisms on which the research or work is being conducted.

The research would focus on agriculture, food processing as well as developing vaccines for poultry sector.. 'We are looking at Rs. 500 crore investment from the industry,' he said.

He said the Coimbatore TICEL park would be ready in the next two years. 'It will have a facility for 500 scientists to do reasearch,' said Sundaram.
