Tata Group and IISc to Establish ₹500 Crore Medical School in Bengaluru.

The Tata Group has joined hands with the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) to establish the Tata IISc Medical School on the IISc campus in Bengaluru. With an investment of ₹500 crore, the initiative aims to create a world-class hub for medical education and research.

The Tata IISc Medical School will offer specializations in oncology, cardiology, neurology, nephrology, diabetes and metabolic disorders, infectious diseases, integrative medicine, and public health. It will also introduce integrated MD-PhD and dual degree programs designed to train physician-scientists and medical technologists.

“The Tata IISc Medical School will focus on research and global collaboration to train physician-scientists in modern medicine,” said N. Chandrasekaran, Chairman of Tata Sons, emphasizing the school’s goal of advancing healthcare innovation and education.

The medical school aims to establish a model for clinical research and training that can be replicated across India. It also plans to collaborate with international medical schools, offering students opportunities to gain global expertise.

Established in 1868 by Jamsetji Tata, the Tata Group is a global conglomerate headquartered in India, with operations in over 100 countries across six continents and a diverse portfolio spanning 30 companies in ten sectors.
