Telangana Seeks Central Funds for Green Hub Incubation Centre.
The state government has sought funds from the Centre under the 'Green Energy Fund' for the proposed Green Hub Incubation Centre in the state.
Energy secretary Arvind Kumar on Friday explained to Union joint secretary in the ministry of new and renewable energy Tarun Kapoor about the green hub incubation centre which the state government is planning to take up with the technical cooperation of the University of Texas.
Arvind Kumar sought funding from the Centre under the Green Energy Fund. The Union joint secretary responded positively and wanted the state government to send a proposal to the Centre at the earliest.
Kapoor, who was in the city on Friday held a meeting with Arvind Kumar and other officials on power utility at the Secretariat. They discussed the implementation of the solar policy in the state.
Arvind Kumar told Kapoor that the state government was confident that it would have a capacity of 960 MW solar power by the end of the next financial year.
Kapoor appreciated the state government for its proactive policies on solar power and said that the state had become a role model for other states in the country.
The Centre on its part is working on addressing the core issues such as distribution, transmission and financing of the solar power projects, Kapoor said.
Arvind Kumar said the state had made rapid strides in solar power generation during the last one year. The total installed solar generation capacity was likely to cross 450 MW. Tendering for solar projects totalling 2,000 MW had already been completed, the principal secretary said.
In wind energy, Telangana had a potential of 4,000 MW. Referring to the solar park which was to come up in Mahbubnagar district, Arvind Kumar said once the land for the project would be available, the bidding process would be taken up. The detailed project report would be ready by next month.
CMD TSSPDCL Raghuma Reddy and VC and MD TNREDCL Srinivas Rao and others were present.
