Thane Railway Station to Get New Commercial Tower, Set to Open by June 2026

The first phase of the ambitious Thane railway station upgrade is expected to be operational by June 2026, according to the Rail Land Development Authority (RLDA). The RLDA, in collaboration with Thane Smart City Limited, is developing a multi-modal transit hub at the existing station, with an 11-storey commercial tower being a key component of the plan.

Located on the east side of the station, adjacent to platform 10, the new building—known as Tower-1—will span 9,000 square meters. The structure will include a basement parking facility, two floors dedicated to passenger movement, and eight upper floors with a total built-up area of 24,280 square meters. The upper floors will be leased out for 60 years to interested businesses.

In preparation for the building’s completion, RLDA has invited Expression of Interest (EOI) from potential lessees. The tower’s strategic location, offering direct access to multiple transportation modes including the railway, public buses, and private vehicles, is expected to make it an attractive proposition for businesses. An elevated road link from the Thane Corporation will connect the site to the Eastern Expressway and the metro-4 line, further enhancing accessibility.

RLDA officials confirmed that the leasable spaces will be provided as bare-shell structures, with common areas and utilities being constructed by the authority. The tower is expected to be ready for handover to tenants by the end of June 2026.
