Titan plans to add 100 more retail stores.
Titan is hopeful of a double digit growth in watches segment for 2014-15 even as it has plans to add about 100 retail stores to add to the present 640 stores, according to HG Raghunath, chief executive officer of watches and accessories division at Titan.
Last year, it sold about 15.5 million watches. 'The watch segment grew by 8.1 per cent during the last fiscal in a difficult period when the economy was subdued. That was a good performance. With markets improving, we are expecting a double digit growth,' he said.
The size of the watch industry is about 45 to 50 million watches a year in the country and about 50 to 60 per cent is accounted by the organised sector. In rupee terms, the watch industry is about 4,500 crore, he said adding that Titan has about 50 per cent share in the organsied segment.
Currently, it has 410 World of Titans, 180 Fastrack stores and about 50 Helios Stores. 'We have plans to add 100 stores across three segments in a year,' he said.
